Willing and Abel was set up after the extraordinary case of Abel in May 2008. Abel was born with his heart outside his chest (ectopia cordis) in rural Cameroon. He was transferred to Europe. Abel’s case highlighted the need of children in developing nations who require specialist surgery, such cases are beyond the facilities of most government and mission hospitals in developing nations, and need to be dealt with on an individual basis. Willing and Abel therefore seeks to provide connections between children in developing nations and specialist centres, helping with visas, passports, transportation and finances. Willing and Abel aims to see the one and love the one -because we believe by transforming individuals; families, communities and nations can be transformed.
